Behind a mask

When those eyes look at me,
what do they see?
Is it a man looking to escape
or a boy running wild and free?
Lurking in the shadows,
I wait for them to pass me.
I do not fear them,
I fear what they see.
Hidden in the dark folds,
I hide it in the deepest sea.
And what blue depths of water do not hide,
I bury under the roots of a tree.
Only when I look at it I realize,
it is what I fear I will see.

Actually I do not believe many of you will understand what I mean by this blog/poem. So here is my explanation: Actually what I am trying to hide is the real me, which I myself fear too. Some of you might have read these lines: "'Everyone here wears a mask'
There are many facets to my life and if you come to know me... you might be knowing just one of my faces".
Well this is the key. Thanks for reading. :)

Dear Kush
Yes , it is true that most of us wear some sort of mask to introduce ourselves to the world but it is not done to deceive anybody; rather, it is an effort we make to ensure that we are accepted and loved by others though we fail to recognize that the standards we measure ourselves against are man made and often based on others’ perceptions.
So the need to hide behind a mask is self-imposed, and as such it can be eliminated though one can enjoy wearing it as a merit to enact different characters at different times and it may be a privilege too

Secondly whats the need to fear ??

Fear beckons danger.

Fear is self-enslavement.

Fear is the eternal loser.

Fear is helplessly founded upon stupidity.
