Yes, you are right. Still this opens a door for similar sales model. I am sure they would have used this as an experiment to see the reaction from gamers. Hoping they will use it again and on new games.

Even though pay-as-much-as-you-want for great games like Penumbra and WoG is great deal for gamers, it is not a sales model for indie game developers for new releases. All of the games in the Humble bundle are very old (~2-5 years) and sales were almost nil. So selling them for pay-as-much-as-you-want not only allows the developers to milk their products a little more, but it also generates interest in their new products. Wolfire is about to launch Overgrowth soon; Frictional games, the developers for Penumbra, have a new game Amnesia available for pre-order.
